PSHE+

PSHE+

Through our PSHE+ programme, we aim to develop each of our students to develop awareness, self-confidence with positive self-esteem.

PPS topics will also be distributed throughout the curriculum for reinforcement. All of the tasks will be authentic allowing students to adapt knowledge and skills into their lives. Each topic and unit will be presented through a local and global lens, exploring the areas in different cultures, geographical contexts and economic contexts whilst exploring commonalities and differences with British Values.

The main aims of the programme below are:

PHSE+ Themes

Personal development

Professional success requires a commitment to growth, improvement and personal reflection. This theme addresses the development of students’ confidence, independence, interpersonal skills and resilience in a variety of personal and professional situations and contexts.

Intercultural understanding

The exploration of cultures and cultural perspectives, including one’s own, enables students to be effective in diverse settings. We value an understanding of human commonality and interconnection.

Effective communication

A dynamic, interconnected and complex world requires students to be capable communicators. In the IB learner profile, students strive to be confident and creative communicators, and to work effectively in collaboration with others. This theme explores a variety of skills and literacies to broaden students’ capabilities as communicators in personal and professional situations and contexts.

Thinking processes

It is essential that students develop and utilize thinking skills for current and future success. In the IB learner profile, students strive to use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse complex problems and take responsible action. This theme provides the opportunity for students to explore and apply a variety of thinking processes to a range of personal and professional situations and contexts.

Applied ethics

Through applied ethics, students explore values and attitudes applicable to real-world situations. Our commitment to principled action requires students to take responsibility for their actions and consequences and act with integrity and honesty. This theme extends students’ understanding of the use of ethics within a range of personal and professional situations and contexts.

Parents do have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of the sex and relationships education except for those parts included in the statutory National Curriculum. Parents should discuss their concerns with the Assistant Principal, Daryl Goodwin. The school will then make alternate arrangements in such cases.
