Our school is using 3D printers which allows us to connect with the future. 3D printing is currently being used to print organs (cranium in the brain), medical equiptment, ear cartilages and tissues with blood vessels.
It is important that high school children are learning the importance of 3d printing as soon it will be an even larger part of everyday life. The importance of knowing how to use these machines is greater and greater every day... New medicines and health benefits are being discovered everyday thanks to the 3D printers.
Although these printers are expensive they benefit schools and students in many ways:
The printers will give the students a wider range of knowledge and understanding, GCSEs and further education should provide lessons with these printers. Students must be shown as many options for the future as possible.
Scientists are putting across there will be a revolution of 3D printers. If this does happen students and young adults with 3D printer skills will be more employable for jobs featuring 3D printing. Many jobs are predicted to open up around 3D printing and the opportunity should be there for all students to discover talents.
